Extraction · PvPvE
DMZ is Modern Warfare 4’s extraction shooter. Drop into the Hajin Exclusion Zone, loot, fight AI forces and rival players, and get out alive with what you found. Here’s how all of it works.

DMZ is an action extraction shooter set in Hajin, an exclusion zone on the Korean peninsula near the Russian border, after the events of the Modern Warfare 4 Campaign. You play an off-the-books CIA asset sent in to recover abandoned military technology before hostile forces get it.
It’s PvPvE: North Korean forces hold the zone, and other squads are in there with you. Everything you carry out is kept for your next deployment. Die, and you lose it. It builds on the original DMZ beta from Modern Warfare II, adding a hub base, crafting, persistent Operators with Traits, and its own progression.
At your Forward Operating Base, pick an Operator, build a Loadout from your Stash, or take the Free Loadout.
Choose a Story Mission, a Dynamic Operation or Free Roam, then how you infil into Hajin.
Search containers, complete objectives, and take on AI forces and rival Operators, or avoid them.
Reach an exfil before the radiation storm closes in. Whatever you carry out is yours to keep.
Narrative missions that carry on the Modern Warfare 4 story inside a live server with other squads. Replayable, with high-value gear and cash as rewards.
Multi-step objectives generated each match. Each one you finish drops a Supply Drop that gets rarer with every Op you complete in the same deployment.
Smaller tasks found in the world: repair trucks, find lost Supply Drops, capture SAM sites, or climb towers that reveal the nearest Lieutenant.
No mission at all. Explore, loot for 3D Printer ingredients, hunt Wanted players, or chase your DMZ Orders.
For Dynamic Operations and Free Roam you can pay DMZ Cash for a faster, safer start. Story Missions set their own infil.
| Infil | DMZ Cash | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| On foot | Free | Start in a random part of Hajin with your squad. |
| Polaris Dagor A1 | 5,000 | A light, fast vehicle air-dropped where you land. |
| LTV | 25,000 | A heavily armoured vehicle air-dropped where you land. |
| Helicopter | 50,000 | Fly in from the FOB, with one of the squad at the controls. |
| Cargo plane | 100,000 | The only option that lets you choose exactly where you drop. |

Every location has a Threat level, shown under your compass. Go in loud and the enemy response escalates, from heavier troops and attack helicopters to Hunt Squads and Deathstalker drones. Stay quiet and it stays low.
Meet the Lieutenants and Commanders in our DMZ bosses guide, and see every location’s threat on the DMZ map.
Loot spawns where it makes sense, so learn the building types. The colours help you spot them from a distance.
Resources are broken down automatically as you loot. Ingredients and Recipes are what you take home to the 3D Printer.
Marked by green smoke. Call in the helicopter, then hold the site until it lands. Other squads know where they are too.
Alternate exfils let you extract elsewhere, but the flares are loud and seen from far away.
A radiation storm tightens over time. When the timer runs low, get out or get caught in it.
Your Operator goes MIA and you lose what wasn’t in a Secure Slot. You keep the XP you earned.
Fighting other players is optional, but it has a system of its own. Proximity chat lets you talk, call a truce or bluff before anyone fires.

DMZ level
Its own track, separate from the main level 1 to 55. Missions, Ops, Side Ops, looting and kills all earn XP, and you keep it even if you don’t extract.
Operators
Each Operator levels their Dog Tag from Steel to Onyx III and earns a Trait Point per level. Max them out to Prestige. Traits guide →
After Action Report
Every deployment is rated on Objectives, Combat and Looting. A balanced run earns more XP.
Levelling up unlocks new FOB stations, station upgrades, 3D Printer Recipes, an extra Active Duty slot, Operators and skins, 3D Printer ingredients, Survival Kits and Fire Support killstreaks. See them in the FOB guide.

DMZ has its own player level from 1 to 70. DMZ XP also counts towards your main level 1 to 55, but Multiplayer and Warzone XP don’t count towards your DMZ level.
Yes. Weapon levels and the camo grind are shared with Multiplayer, and AI kills count for many challenges, usually with higher targets. DMZ also has its own three Mastery camos: Chiral, Ripple Tide and Helio.
