How to unlock Platinum

To unlock Platinum, earn Gold on every weapon in the class first (for assault rifles, that’s all 8). Then complete the class’s Platinum challenge, which is different for each weapon class.

Tier 1Gold
Tier 2Platinum
Tier 3Harmonic Break
Tier 4Divergence

Step by step

Level the weapon to unlock its 8 Military camos. The levels needed differ by weapon.
Complete the weapon’s 3 Special camo challenges. They open at set weapon levels, and DMZ asks for more kills than Multiplayer.
Gold: get 15 kills in a single Multiplayer match, or 100 in a single DMZ match.
Platinum: once every weapon in the class has Gold, complete that class’s Platinum challenge.

Challenge by weapon class

Weapon class	Platinum challenge
Assault rifles	Headshots
SMGs	Kills from behind
Shotguns	Hipfire kills
LMGs	Kills without dying
Marksman rifles	Kills while prone
Sniper rifles	Kills while prone
Pistols	Kills from behind
Launchers	Kills without taking damage
Melee	Kills without dying

Example: for the Han 86, Gold all 8 assault rifles first, then get 50 headshots on players in Multiplayer or 100 on enemies in DMZ. Progress from both modes counts.

Requirements from the official Call of Duty blog: Modern Warfare 4 progression and Prestige. See every endgame camo on the MW4 Mastery camos page.
