Progression · Prestige
Everything about Prestige in Modern Warfare 4: the new choice between Classic and Regular Prestige, every icon and reward, Prestige Master all the way to level 1,000, and Weapon Prestige.
Climb from Private I to Commander, the max rank. XP from Multiplayer and DMZ both count, and Warzone joins in Season 1.
Choose Classic or Regular Prestige. Either way you go back to level 1 and start the next Prestige’s reward track.
You choose a path again at the start of every Prestige. Finish Prestige 10 to enter Prestige Master.
A first for Call of Duty: two ways to prestige, and you can switch between them every time.
Classic Prestige
The traditional Prestige. Your unlocks and custom classes reset, and in return you get a 20% XP boost, a Permanent Unlock Token and the Classic version of each Prestige’s level 50 reward.
Regular Prestige
You go back to level 1 but keep every unlock and every class, so you can keep playing exactly as before. You still earn the shared Prestige rewards.
| On prestige | Classic | Regular |
|---|---|---|
| Back to level 1 | Yes | Yes |
| Level unlocks | Relocked | Kept |
| Create-a-Class | Reset | Kept |
| XP boost | +20% | None |
| Permanent Unlock Token | 1 per Prestige | None |
| Prestige rewards | Shared rewards plus Classic bonus versions | Shared rewards |

Every Prestige has a reward every ten levels, ending at level 50 with a Blueprint or Operator skin.

Finish Prestige 10 and your level stops resetting. It climbs from 56 to 1,000, with rewards every five to ten levels up to 99, then every 25.

Every gun has its own optional Prestige once it hits max level, with four stages of the Pyroclast camo to earn.

Grinding camos while you level? Track them all in the camo tracker, and see every gun’s max level on the weapons page.
Reach Commander, the max level of 55. You’re then asked to pick a path, Classic or Regular, and you start again from level 1. You choose again every time you enter a new Prestige.
Regular keeps every unlock and class, so it costs you nothing. Classic resets your unlocks and classes, but gives a 20% XP boost, a Permanent Unlock Token and Classic versions of the rewards. Pick Classic if you want the extra cosmetics and don’t mind re-unlocking gear.
There are 10 Prestige levels. After Prestige 10 you enter Prestige Master, where your level keeps climbing past 55 all the way to 1,000.
The max player level is 55 (Commander). Prestige Master takes you to level 1,000, where you become a Prestige Legend. DMZ has its own separate track of 70 levels.
Each Classic Prestige gives you one token. Spend it on any level unlock to keep it for good, even through future Classic Prestiges. Activision suggests spending it on Perks, Field Upgrades, Killstreaks or Equipment, because owning a weapon Blueprint already keeps that weapon unlocked.
Yes. XP from DMZ counts towards your level 1 to 55 progression. It doesn’t work the other way: Multiplayer and Warzone XP don’t count towards your DMZ level.
No. Weapon Prestige resets the weapon to level 1 and relocks its attachments, except Apex and Blueprint attachments, but your camos, reticles, Blueprints and other customisation stay.
